Daily Sketch: Toe Cleaning
Posted: January 19, 2012 Filed under: animal artwork, black cats, cats, daily sketch, jelly bean | Tags: black cats, cat art, cat sketches, cats, ink drawing of cat, sketch of cat bathing 4 CommentsJelly Bean has himself all rolled into a ball by the time he gets around to cleaning between his toes; that’s why it looks as if he has three toes—his tongue is between the last two.
I’m trying to pick up my speed with sketching, and bathing sketches are great for that. When they play they actually move too much, at least for my skill level at the moment. When bathing they usually sit in one spot and twist around from there but at least a part of them stays in one place.

Keeping An Eye on Cookie

She’s been doing that for years, not just since she’s been a little weaker with renal failure. She eats there, as we know, and it’s her preferred water bowl, and if she’s not at my desk with me she also likes to nap there in case I come into the kitchen to do something interesting.
But her big little brothers and sister are concerned because she’s been a little unsteady lately and she might lose her balance and fall off. The Fantastic Four have all surrounded her, keeping her safely in place, Jelly Bean to the west, Mr. Sunshine north, Giuseppe holding the east and Mewsette guarding south.
Big soft, sturdy black kitties make great bumper pads for little older kitties.

One Happy Black Kitty: From A Year Ago

One Happy Black Kitty
Just one of those sunny January mornings last year…
This morning was not so bright, but yesterday’s sun inspired a lot of feline bliss. Here, Giuseppe pauses in his breakdancing to warm his belly in the sun.
I love how most black cats’ fur takes on a variety of mahogany tones in pure sunlight. Among these five, each has a different shade of mahogany, and it even varies across their body. Giuseppe is the cooler brown, like his mom.

You Wanted to Wear This Today?
Posted: January 19, 2012 Filed under: black cats, cat photographs, cats, daily photo, giuseppe, my household of felines, winter | Tags: black cat, cat photographs, cats, pet photography, photography Leave a comment“You wanted to wear this today? Is that why you made the bed, then laid these clothes on it?
“I thought it suited me for taking a nap. It matches me better than it matches you anyway.
“The sweater is pretty old and the black is faded—just look how gray it looks against my fur. And the skirt is too big on you, it always was—why do you buy clothes so big?
“Guess you’ll have to find something else to wear.”
I should know better than to lay anything on the bed, anything at all. And then dare to ask a question because I know I’ll get an answer.
