Daily Sketch: The Box
Posted: January 21, 2012 Filed under: animal artwork, black cats, cats, daily sketch, giuseppe, mewsette, mimi | Tags: black cats, cat art, cat sketches, cats, ink drawing of cat, sketch of cat bathing 2 CommentsThey posed for this, as you can see, but they didn’t hold still long enough to get a good sketch of all three of them.
Sketching one cat, especially a quick sketch, is usually achievable in less than a minute, at least recording all the basic lines before they move and I can add detail later if I want. If they are sleeping or keeping pretty still, I can get more detail and can even add a cat or two. But three of them in one sketch, well, but how could I say “no” when they asked so nicely?
They were so cute with Mimi and Giuseppe on the top and Mewsette peeking out from around the flap.

In the Sink: From A Year Ago

"Read My Mind."
JB takes his love of faucet-sipping to the kitchen sink.
“Let me help you wash the dishes.”
No, that’s not what he has in mind.
“The perfect place to hide. No one would notice one small black cat in this sink full of pots and pans.”
Not quite, but getting closer.
“I want something and I’ll just sit here and be cute until you figure it out.”
I have an idea.
“Come on, Mom, the answer is right in front of you.”
He wants a drink of water from the faucet before I wash the dishes. Loud purr from Jelly Bean. He’s the Lead Faucet Drinker of the household and will show up any time one is turned on. If he’s so inclined, the Bean will just hop in the sink and wait until I figure it out.

How about some sweet-talk?
“But one of these days, I’ll figure out how to turn it on. Maybe if I whisper sweet things to it, the faucet will come on all by itself.”

Keeping the World Safe From Little Sticks
Posted: January 21, 2012 Filed under: black cats, cat behavior, cat photographs, cats, daily photo, mewsette, mr. sunshine, my household of felines, photographs | Tags: black cat, black cats, cat photographs, cats, pet photography, photography 4 CommentsHmmm, what would you do with two bored cats when you want to get some housework done?
I toss a little stick from a basket just in front of them. Both carefully study the stick for quite some time. Whole minutes quietly go by while their predator instincts determine the best course of action.
Suddenly, Mr. Sunshine takes action, attempting to bite the stick.
Then, more lengthy consideration.
Suddenly, Mewsette swats the stick.
Now they are ready for the next organized play activity.
Well, that was exciting.
