Daily Sketch: Mr. Sunshine Demands
Posted: April 13, 2012 Filed under: animal artwork, black cats, cats, daily sketch, mr. sunshine | Tags: black cats, cat art, cat sketches, cats, marker sketch of cat 2 CommentsWith that tall tail he is so sweet. Typically the tail is quite straight, bending forward slightly at the very tip, but here he had been playing and was very excited about something. I said something totally ingenious, like, “Mr. Sunshine!” He came to the doorway, demanding to know what I wanted. He stood there long enough to get a little outline done, then disappeared back into the kitchen. I called him back a few more times to get the rest of the details. The expression on his face is from the last callout.

Daily Sketch: Three for Dinner
Posted: April 6, 2012 Filed under: animal artwork, black cats, cats, daily sketch, jelly bean, mewsette, mr. sunshine | Tags: black cats, cat art, cat sketches, cats, marker sketch of cat, sketch of three cats 4 Comments(Sorry, this posted first with yesterday’s text! Someone walked across my keyboard…)
Three cats having dinner, seen from above, Jelly Bean at the top, Mewsette to the left and Mr. Sunshine to the right. I love how each has their habits of how they hold their ears and tails while they eat, and how they interact with their dish. But it’s always just a nice moment to watch them eat a meal, I can just feel the happiness, and hear the purr.
I actually wanted to continue last night’s theme of color with black outline, but there was no way I’d be able to finish it while they ate. Their bowls aren’t blue, they are actually clear tempered glass, so I thought I’d add a bit of color that way instead of using a typical gray to indicate something transparent with shadow and highlight. I’ve always liked black and turquoise!

Daily Sketch: Kitty in Pink
Posted: April 5, 2012 Filed under: animal artwork, black cats, cats, daily sketch, mr. sunshine | Tags: black cats, cat art, cat sketch in pink, cat sketches, cats, marker sketch of cat 5 CommentsDon’t know how Mr. Sunshine ended up with pink all over him today, but he was the model for this! A little spring fun with the brush markers and his curvy silhouette, but I had to capture his exotic slanted eyes.
I was photographing crabapple blossoms this morning. Surely all that pale and bright pink left an impression for the day.
